@hikarisilver
2 days to do a backup! Obviously something isn't right. Before you blame Windows backup you need to be more specific about what you are backing up and what you are backing up to.
I use Macrium as well and I would say the two are within 10% of each other timewise. Macrium being slightly faster in creating an image and Windows being faster in restoring an image. | My System Specs |

Here I am finding both Acronis and the 7 option both taking about the same amount of time for creating a rather Large image backup over simply having everything stuffed on a separate drive with only the basics on C. As for free programs besides Macrium Easuus offers a free home version for download as well. For a full paid for however Acronis and a look at Paragon still comes to mind when it comes time to update from the 2010 version of T.I. here. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64, XP Mode, W8 RP VM, Linux Mint Debian 2nd OS HD- 7 Pro x64 second case CPU AMD Phenom II X4 975 Deneb 3.6ghz - 965 on new mini tower Motherboard Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4 Memory Kingston Hyper X DDR3 1600 1.5v 16gb - Mushkin on 2nd build Graphics Card MSI HD Radeon 5750 1gb - MSI HD Radeon 6450 on mini tower Sound Card Creative Labs X-Fi XtremeGamer - Realtek onooard 2nd case Monitor(s) Displays 2 x Acer P191W 19" widesscreen - HP 20" widescreen mini towe Screen Resolution 1440x900 native - 1600x1024 on 7 Pro x64 build Keyboard Microsoft Recusa Razor - MS Comfort 3000 on second build Mouse MS Trackball Explorer - A4TECH dual scroll wheel trackball PSU Corsair 750TX - primary / Corsair CX600 - second Case Antec 900-2 - SSD compatible / NZXT Vulcan mini tower Cooling Zalman CNPS9900A Hard Drives Primary Ultimate x64 build-

The problem now is MS is doing away with the Windows Live which just happens to feature SkyDrive as well as having had the Live Mesh option in favor of their new Outlook mail provider. 7gb wouldn't cut it here anyways since I typically see that amount in just one folder alone!
That's good for something like uploading your photo collection as well as for other files you typically share online over any long term storage/backup plans. It can help for laptop users without any other options however. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64, XP Mode, W8 RP VM, Linux Mint Debian 2nd OS HD- 7 Pro x64 second case CPU AMD Phenom II X4 975 Deneb 3.6ghz - 965 on new mini tower Motherboard Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4 Memory Kingston Hyper X DDR3 1600 1.5v 16gb - Mushkin on 2nd build Graphics Card MSI HD Radeon 5750 1gb - MSI HD Radeon 6450 on mini tower Sound Card Creative Labs X-Fi XtremeGamer - Realtek onooard 2nd case Monitor(s) Displays 2 x Acer P191W 19" widesscreen - HP 20" widescreen mini towe Screen Resolution 1440x900 native - 1600x1024 on 7 Pro x64 build Keyboard Microsoft Recusa Razor - MS Comfort 3000 on second build Mouse MS Trackball Explorer - A4TECH dual scroll wheel trackball PSU Corsair 750TX - primary / Corsair CX600 - second Case Antec 900-2 - SSD compatible / NZXT Vulcan mini tower Cooling Zalman CNPS9900A Hard Drives Primary Ultimate x64 build-

You just navigate to the right disk/partition and find the folder with the image. Then you point to the image. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

Curious. It seems simple enough that I don't see how a changed drive letter would mess things up as long as you knew where to find the file. I keep my backups in dated folders (one folder for each full backup, including subsequent incremental files) so finding them would be easy, even for me.
Maybe the problem occurs when using the recovery disk. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Build OS Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit CPU Intel i7-3930K Motherboard ASUS P9X79 WS Memory Kingston HyperX Genesis 32GB Kit (8x4GB Modules) 1600MHz DDR Graphics Card MSI R7850 Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC Radeon HD 7850 2GB 256-bit GDDR Sound Card On board Realtek HD Monitor(s) Displays HP w2207h Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 Keyboard Logitech G110 Mouse Logitech M525 (two in use) PSU Corsair HX750w Case Antec Two Hundred v2 Cooling Cooler Master GeminII S524 120mm (fan replaced with a 140mm) Hard Drives Samsun 128GB 840 Pro

I've never had a problem with either Windows imaging or Macrium when moving images around within a partition ie. into different folders on the partition. This is just an update to the partition' file system.
When you move across partition boundaries you do a physical move. Apart from taking some time I think you are more likely to experience problems when it comes to restore. It's the sort of thing I would only do in desperation. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Own build (+ Recased Acer Aspire x1800) OS Windows 7x64 Home Premium SP1 x 2 CPU Intel i7 2600k Motherboard ASUS P8Z68 Deluxe Memory G.Skill Ripjaws (DDR3-1600) 2x4GB Graphics Card Nvidia GeForce GTS 450; Intel HD Graphics 3000(GT2+) Monitor(s) Displays Dell Ultrasharp IPS panel U2311H, Samsung SyncMaster P2350 Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech MK520 (wireless) Mouse Logitech MK520 PSU Seasonic M12II 520W Case Lian Li Lancool PC-K60 Cooling Case: 1x120mm, 3x140mm CPU: Hyper 212+ Hard Drives Crucial M4 128GB (000F), Seagates 1TB Barracuda ST31000528AS + Internet Speed 6-7 Mbps Antivirus Norton NIS, Malwarebytes on 2 (MSE on 3rd PC) Browser FireFox Other Info Audio: Logitech Z523 2.1 |

Just joined: Quote: Email publishing feature to be decommissioned
SkyDrive has a feature called Email Publishing that lets you upload photos by sending an email to a special address that you enabled. This feature was designed for people to upload photos when away from their PC – for example on feature phones. With the shift to smartphones, there are now much easier ways for people to upload your photos to SkyDrive. As a result, we are retiring this feature at the end of April.
