Files disappeared, software not working properly, unsure of the event

Bought a Dell L521X more than a month ago and I am having problems. I am running Windows 7 Professional. This has happened to me once already. And it just happened recently. When I am browsing the Internet or doing anything, the computer gets stuck. I cannot do anything. Mouse doesnt work....

When importing files from a memory stick the files won't sort into date order, all the files already in the folder sort into date order but the new ones just stay at the bottom(top) when clicking sort and are ignored in the sort process!! I can manually move them to where they should be but...
