Windows 7: Does boot disk need to match actual win 7 version.

I am running Windows 7 Prof. 64 bit / Win 8 64 bit. Most campus nodes are on 7 32 bit
Does boot disk need to match actual win 7 version.

If I have a win 7 home edition disk and want to restore a cpu with win pro does the disk matter?

Yes, you will need the same version edition disk, same bit version (x32 or x64).

Is there a way to tell which version level one is running (ie. 7264,7265, 7223, ec.)? When I run winver it just says build 7600 but not the other numbers. Weren't they all towards the end 7600-XXXXX?? When you go to system it doesn't show any version numbers..Just curious as there were so many...
