    1 step system restore dvd?

Hello, i work for a local computer store, and i have always done our restore disks using ghost 2003, the dos .exe.. and it has worked fine..

Problem is now we have started pumping out W7 machines and i cannot for the life of me get ghost to create a proper restore dvd, they always get a bootmgr error, i can run the repair off a w7 dvd and that fixes it.. but thats not alot of help. (if you have ever delt with a end user you would know that everything has to be 1 touch and drool proof)

Anyway, anyone found any options for a good restore dvd setup? or a way around the bootmgr problem?

I have tried the old vista BCDEDIT and of course that doesn't work..

i have tried -FDSP, no go...

    Any other ideas?

    thanks guys!

I've been able to use ghost32.exe from a BartPE with Vista, so I would assume it would work with 7.

However, most drive manufacturer's are giving away a version of TrueImage that should let you dumb or restore an image using an external USB drive.

I had the same problem with Ghost on Vista. Fortunately I own a boxed version so it came with one disk. There are a lot of free programs out there that you can try instead of Ghost. Here is a small selection: ( 7 Freeware Acronis True Image & Norton Ghost Alternatives ). And I would add Easeus. The imaging program is free.

Nope... vista and 7 images are different.. i think vista didnt have that 100mb boot partition, which seems to be the root of the problem.. thanks though:)

Our restore dvd's have to be like YES or NO.. and thats the only thing.. anymore than that and customers get confused...
