Seagate Backup Plus Errors preventing control panel install.

Hi:

I started a new thread here as I didn't want to confuse backup issues with upgrade/install issues in my other thread

Backup issue
:

I am having problems starting a new Seagate Backup Plus external HDD. The backup I need to do is 60GB's, my 2 flash drives are 8GB's each. The external HDD wizard won't install the control panel.

I get these errors...

1. errors 1935: MS VC80 ATL issues-version 8.0.50727.4053-MS Visual C++ 2010. [See this highlighted in red in the CBS.log below]. This registry key disappeared at some point in the past and is no longer on my machine and unrepairable. I believe this reg. key is required to run the Visual C++ program, which appears to be required to run the Backup Plus program. I do have some saved Vista OS programs on CD disks, but I don't know which program file this registry key is on? But I figure why go there if I am trying to install a new Win 7 OS?

2. Error 1920: Seagate dashboard failed to start, wants me to verify sufficient privileges to start system services. I right clicked and ran the dashboard install wizard as administrator to start, same error message...?

3. No disk in drive, please insert disk in drive\Device\Harddisk1\DR1. Don't know what this wants me to do?

Unable to figure this out, I plugged the ext. HDD into the USB port and ran "Windows Easy Transfer". Followed the prompts and it started transferring files, etc. I let it run for a while, fell asleep, woke up, and got a error failed to complete transfer message, etc., so I closed it out and unplugged the ext. HDD. I have no clue at this point? I'll try e-mailing Seagate for an answer...knock on wood? But figured maybe someone here knows how to correct the above errors?

When I started my computer this morning I got the below Windows error messages. I clicked the CBS.log to see if something would make sense? But it is all greek to me? The 6-22+23-2013 CBS.log dates likely pertain to my attempts to install the Backup Plus control panel.

To Gregrocker: Thanks, my intentions were to just plug the ext. drive into the USB port and do the backup. It should be that simple, but apparently not, as the above speaks for itself. Maybe I missed a move somewhere installing this device, or...?

I highlighted in red in the CBS.log showing the VC80 issue/error/malfunction. Which is related to Microsoft Visual C++ program required to start/install and run the Backup Plus program. I have previously got error messages for the MC Visual C++ program. Telling me too install same, even though its already installed. So I presume the missing reg. key is the reason for these error messages. And why I want to install a new OS.

I do apologize for the long winded explanation here, but I thought I could just plug & play this backup plus? Guess not.
