So a while back I upgraded from my desktop's onboard nvidia chipset to a Radeon HD 5450 video card. I never uninstalled any of the nvida drivers
because I was lazy. I finally got to removing all the nvidia things on my harddrive and now windows aero theme does not work. I thought maybe i uninstalled something I shouldn't have so I attempted to do a system restore and I get a message telling me it failed to extract the original copy of the directory from the restore point. I love the aero themes and it's extremely frustrating not to be able to use it.
Windows tells me my driver
isn't compatible so I'm guessing one of the nvidia drivers was somehow allowing me to use aero themes despite the fact that I'm not using that chipset. I've tried restoring in safe mode, with volume shadow copy service started and it's still not working. I am currently attempting sfc /scannow. I guess I could live with the basic theme but I'd rather not
Edit: sfc /scannow was successful but system restore still does not work. However I had a different picture for the startup screen and after the sfc /scannow it reverted it back to the default which is fine but when I log in the screen flickers for some reason then everything is normal
