    Excellent recovery system (Free)

    Hi there
I know a lot of people HATE Windows 8 -- but if you download the FREE Windows 8 ENTERPRISE (180 day free trial) you can install a Windows to Go system on to an external USB device (use an SSD and it's great) which BOOTS AND RUNS from the USB and runs as a FULL windows system -- not a LIVE system but a real Windows system. (This is a REAL running system not an INSTALLATION Disk). You can install stuff just like you can on a normal Windows system. It's a genuine portable system which will boot on any device that allows booting from a USB device. If you use an SSD it runs perfectly fast enough too.

Now if you install things like OFFICE, PHOTOSHOP, Partition Wizard and Backup / recovery software like Acronis you can use this as a full working Windows system and it will boot even if the main HDD on the computer is broken. You can also install VLC and a load of other stuff making this a very convenient PORTABLE windows running system - far easier than messing around with things like BARTPE or trying to boot and run VHD's.

OK it's Windows 8 but if your main system is broken you can use this to recover it very quickly with all the tools in one place. - Meanwhile while the system is being repaired you can still watch a Video / listen to music or do other things at the same time as it's a FULL windows system.

Normally the USB devices have to be certified but if you do it THIS way then you can use ANY USB device.

    Hi there
no idea on this one -- somebody will just have to try it and see. However creating a new "recovery" toolbox system every 180 days really isn't too much of a hassle especially as the whole process only takes around 15 - 20 mins.
