Backup seems stuck

    A restore can still have an infection, some are written to be persistent like that. A really good way for you may be this too.

    Again, I suggest you just forget DVDs and use a relatively cheap external USB Hard Drive. It's faster and definitely more reliable. An equally important advantage is that you can store multiple system images spanning a period of time. So if you are worried about some virus infection or other software issue you can go back far enough before the issue occurred.

    I purchased this backup hard drive just recently for U.S. $50.

    Hitachi GST Touro Mobile Pro 500GB USB 3.0 Piano Black External Hard Drive 0S03105 - Newegg.com

    It costs less to purchase this than it would cost to buy a hard drive and a case to house it.
