Under falst assumption I had a backup

I've slept well thinking the back-up of my laptop, which I can view on my external hard drive, would work for me in a crisis. But I've lost a file and was going to attempt to recover it from my back up and Windows tells me there is no back up. I did both an Image back up and a regular back up. The backup folder is 210 GB and 13 files. Anyway to be able to view those? Using Windows 7 Home Prem on 64 bit Dell XPS Laptop with a 1.5 TB External WD drive.
Thanks
Tim

I don't know why, but they could be hidden. So, open the Start Menu, type folder options, press Enter, and then select the setting called "Show hidden files, folders, and drives". Click OK and then refresh the folder.

Thanks, but no hidden files or folders. I can view the files in Explorer, but windows can't find them to restore.

You could try to mount the Image and see if you can restore the file using this tutorial:

Hi Tim,

I understand it must be frustrating to loose a backup when you need it the most. Please let us know if you have used Windows Backup and Recovery to make a backup or Dell Datsafe Local Backup to create a image backup.

If you have used the dell software for the backup then check the link below for restoring system from a backup:

Hope it helps.

Limitations & assumptions in CD burning
I tried to burn a single 400MB (or so) file to CD, and it got stuck for hours partway through. Is there a file size limit in the burning process? It was a blank CD, and I asked to have it treated like as USB stick when prompted, which I seem to recall was similar to UDF packet writing. In case it...

Does this backup strategy make sense? Rebit, 2 drives and Win7 backup
Does the following make sense to use for a backup strategy? Like most people I am terrified of losing my data and I have 75,000 photos on my 2TB C: drive. What I am considering doing is adding a second internal 2TB drive and running Rebit to back up to that drive. Then adding an external 2TB...
