    Backup Set lasts forever

I created my first backup set on March 31 with backup scheduled for 2pm every day. I was under the impression that after a certain number of backup files Windows would create a new backup set and I could delete the earlier one. However, here we are in August and windows is still adding daily backup files to the original March 31 backup set. I am attaching a screen capture - picture worth a thousand words!

Is this the way it's supposed to be?
Should I manually create a new backup set and delete the march 31 one? If yes, how?

First obvious query to me is why are you backing up every day? But you have your reasons I guess.

Personally why not do them to an external drive? instead of cluttering the C: drive? See this

As for back up it might be an idea to image the system too mate

    1. I am translating a very, very long document and if there is one thing I hate more than anything else is translating the same document twice. Therefore, I backup every day and sometimes, not often, twice the same day.
    2. I back up to an external hard drive. Wouldn't appear very judicious to backup to the same drive where the original files are stored.
    3. Each backup makes a system image; I have it set to retain the most recent image only.
