Pretty much all the free versions should be able to do that.

Yes -- IF your PC can boot from a USB device connected to a USB 3.0 port -- which a lot can not.

You should try making a bootable USB drive while it's connected to the USB 3.0 port and seeing if you can boot from that.

Good Idea, BUT Im running Windows 7 from a iMac and using bootcamp.. SO I dont think I can use ANY other drive to restore from ( if I had to do a COMPLETE RE INSTALL ) But Ill try your idea and make a bootable USB and see if I can boot from that.. Does ANYONE know if the freeware BACKUPPER can do SELECTED FILES and FOLDER BACKUP or does it JUST do Complete hard drive back up! Looks like a good one.. But Im looking for a Program just to back up selected files and folders to an external drive... thanks guys!

Aomei Backupper is an imaging program, not a file back up program.

You might find Karen's Replicator does the job:

Another file backup program you could try is FreeFileSync. I have beren using it for more than a year now.FreeFileSync | Free Security & Utilities software downloads at SourceForge.net
