    Hello
As i plan to have some changing on my Windows 7 system, I try to take a backup of my system
But I'm told that the appropriate service is not active

    Hello sfleury,

What was the full error message that you got?

Double check to make sure that you have the services below set properly:

    • Background Intelligent Transfer Service - enabled and started (Automatic (Delayed start))
    • Windows Backup - enabled and manual

Hope this helps for now, :)

    Thank you for your answer
I looked at the services and found (as I'm french I foun,d the equivalent
    • Windows Backup (Sauvegarde Windows) - enabled and manual
but did not find something that could be (or at least something that would mean)
    • Background Intelligent Transfer Service - enabled and started (Automatic (Delayed start))
Is that a "standard" service that should be always present or could it be missing sometimes ?
    I use Windows 7 - 64 Bits

Thanks for your help Have a good day

I cannot find this Background Intelligent Transfer Service in my Windows 7 64bit either. But to make things easy, why don't you try this:

    Imaging with free Macrium

I would agree with Wolfgang that it would be better to use a 3rd party program like Macrium Reflect or AOMEI Backupper.

Otherwise you may need to do a repair install to fix Windows Backup.

    Thanks
As a "backup/restore" software, I use "Spotmau Power Suite" for several years
As a 3registry Cleaner", ,I use "Registry First Aid". In this software, when I try to "Create a restore point", I'm told that either the Backup service is not started is not started or that I have no administrator rights.
I checked and I am using an "administrator" account with administrator rights.
On the other end, I would like to know if there is a way to crate a Restore point i could use later, without having to boot from an external CD (like all backup tools - Spotmau, Easus, macrium, Active Disk ... seem to imply).
Is there a way to "save" only Registry and mandatory Windows files, ignoring all other folders and personal data (like programs and documents) ?
    Thanks have a good day

For registry backups you can use Erunt: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/erunt/

I would highly recommend not to use any registry cleaners in Windows 7. They are useless and create more problems than they fix.

If your restore point service does not work, you should do a repair install as Shawn recommends: Repair Install
