    Windows can't recognize System Image

    Hi all,

I made a backup system image for my laptop a while ago, and I'm trying to restore it at the moment.

However, the image does not appear in the Re-Image screen, both when reading off of a network computer, and an external USB hard disk.

I may be wrong with this, but I noticed that another one of my backups had a certain file with the computers name (JITINDHILLON-PC) and upon clicking the file you would see a small window with 3 options

    Restore files from backup
    Restore files for all users
    manage space used

This specific file is missing for whatever reason and I am suspecting that this is the issue that is causing windows to miss the backup images.

Does anyone have any idea's regarding this, or can clarify the situation? I'm trying to talk with an Answer Desk agent with Microsoft, but he is painfully slow, like its been an hour on online chat and he hasn't told me anything yet. He's been "checking with an advanced team" for the past 20 minutes now...

    Thanks!

If it isn't being found, an alternative is to mount the .vhd in disk management, and use a 3rd party program to make an image of the mounted vhd.

Lots of free programs will be fine, e.g. Aomei backupper, or macrium free.

I'll give this a try, thanks for the reply.
