does the dell datasafe will delete my D partition?

i have a question about what will the dell datasafe do,
i have split my hard drive to C and D beside the hidden recovery partition that was exist already,
so when i wanted to recover windows7 dell safe mentioned that it will restore factory default
does this mean that it will make my hard drive 1 partition C only like the first time i bought it ?
and format and merge the D partition
    or
it will restore the windows to C partition only "format and restore"

please guys i need someone have done this before

    thanks in advance

    Hi jonelinux,

    Welcome to Seven forums.

Please let us know if you have created the backup before or after partitioning the harddrive. As it takes the system image as backup, so you need to have the partition size as same when you made the backup.

It would be advisable to have a backup on a external harddrive and then perform the same to ensure no data loss in the process.

Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.

    Hi jonelinux,

If you use a factory image partition then it would delete all the partition on the system and would make the system as factory installed with only one partition.

You can make a backup right now as well for the C drive partition only by using dell datasafe or various other backup software.

You can also do a clean install on C drive only and then take a backup for future purpose as well:

    Clean Install Windows 7

Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.
