backup win7, restore to win xp, possible?

My regular laptop is a Win 7 and my secondary laptop is an XP machine. I backup my Win 7 daily and I was wondering if something went wrong with my Win 7 machine, would I be able to restore my files to my Win XP laptop? Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by "restore my files"? IF you mean can you copy your files from the Win7 backup to the XP machine, it depends on HOW you do the backup. I use Macrium Reflect to do all my backups, and it allows me to "mount" a backup image as a "drive" -- thus allowing me to copy individual files from the backup image. If your backup program doesn't allow such mounting, then you won't be able to access individual files from the image.

I use Windows 7 backup and restore program to an external hard drive. Now, if my windows 7 machine died can I restore some or all the files from the external hard drive to my secondary laptop which is an XP machine? Thanks in advance.

Backup and Restore: restore files in Recycler (Win7 Enterprise x64)
Hi: I have a Win 7 Enterprise Pro x64 laptop. Most of the files in my recycler/recycle bin mysteriously disappeared a few days back (I am guessing some OS quirk since desktop.ini also seems to have been modified then, though everything is still running smoothly). So I want to get those files...

Question about Win7's 'Backup&Restore'
Ok, this question is split into two parts. 1.) I recently had some sort of registry corruption or something, due to a virus, in my Win 7 Ultimate 64Bit and I had to do a clean install of the same OS again. But before I had formatted my C:\ drive, I had taken a Backup of the 'Users', 'AppData'...

Win7 Image Backup and Restore
Not sure where to write this so I decided here under General Discussion. I truly believe in backups of documents and image backup of HD. In the past I have used many different ones and prior to Win7 I was using TeraByte Unlimited Image for Windows V3 which was fast and reliable. Well last...
