Win 7 and Ghost 15

I have been using Ghost 15 with no problem for sometime, I dont install it to windows I just boot
from the recovery disk and copy the Win 7 partition. Then I copy this to new machines (same
hardware). The latest batch of pc's I did the usual. Installed Win 7 and all programs and made a ghost copy to an external drive. I then Built the next machine and used the recovery option in ghost to copy on to the new drive. When in the ghost pe a warning comes up about different hardware even though the new pc is the same
motherboard, graphics card, hard drive etc. I ignore this and it starts the restore. At the end an
error message comes up asking for a recovery disk. (dont know what this means...) When i come to boot the restored mchine I get the start of the Windows 7 logo, then a freeze and then it
reboots and just loops ad infinitum. I presume this has something to do with Win 7 and the reserved partition as I never had any problem
with XP and some of the previous Win 7 machines have restored with no problem. Can any kind soul point me to a solution?
Thanks Mike

Most likely something is different with the machine you imaged and the machine you restored the image to.
You said it worked before, right?
Aside from that Ghost message saying the hardware is different, there could be something wrong with that new PC.
I once couldn't install XP because of a bad memory stick, though memory showed ok in bios.
It's possible you can't install Win 7 on the new PC. Maybe trying that will save some time.

I use Ghost 15, but only for the same machine unless I image a sysprepped machine.
Don't use the reserve partition either.
Been happy with Ghost 15, but I've heard that Acronis - I think - will restore images to a different machine, so I might try that out. It would eliminate sysprepping.

Acronis, EASUS, and Macrium Reflect all have apps that will allow you to "migrate" an installation from one machine to another. Essentially, what they all do is the following: (1) you take an image of the old machine, (2) you obtain drivers for the new machine, (3) you "restore" the image to the new machine, (4) you boot from CD or USB, run the "restore" app and choose the option to configure for the new machine -- at which point you provide it the drivers for the new machine. The app then replaces the old drivers with the new drivers. When you reboot, the new machine works OK.

I know that the Acronis and Macrium options cost money, but I think the EASUS option is free.
