    System Restore Failed

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium and IE 10. I've attached the message I get after trying and failing to do a system restore. It says system restore couldn't access a file probably because an anti-virus program was running (but I turned it off so that's not the problem). The error number is 0x80070005.

Can somebody help me with this?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

What AV do you have installed currently?

Simply turning off your AV may not be sufficient for this type of error.
0X80070005 means "access denied". And in many cases it is the AV causing this error code.

I would suggest uninstalling you AV completely. (You can always reinstall if found not
    to be the issue)

As an alternative, please download and install:

    Microsoft Security Essentials.
Recommended from a strict BSOD perspective, compatibility & stability
compared to other antiviruses/internet security software.

       Note
Once downloaded, update and run a full system scan

    Now see if restore works?

    cheers

    System Restore Failed

    Hi,

Thank you so much for getting back to me with your wonderful advice (it worked) and I'm sorry it's taken me so long to respond but I have been away and just got back. I was using Telus Security Services. After I uninstalled it I was able to do a system restore so, thanks again.
