New free backup app. From paragon

Just released the best FREE backup app. ever.

This deserves a new thread - with so many now installing a new o/s and/or dual booting, there is an even greater need for reliable backup solution.

Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Free Edition :

New free backup app. From paragon-par-br10-free-2009-10-23_172942.jpg

Afaik, this is the only always free backup image app. which includes Full and Differential imaging, as well as a range of scheduling options.

Run off the bootable disc from within the program straight away - it prompts you to do so.

The boot disc contains the features of the program in bootable form.

Other free programs can be forced to go faster ( by increasing cpu usage) - none of them include all these features. I have always found the Paragon image products completely reliable.

Does Paragon Backup & Recover 10 Free run any processes in the background? Acronis runs 4 or 5 (a couple schedulers, an image mounter, something else). They use very little resources but they're there and I prefer to keep things as lean as possible.
    Thanks.

I'll have a look - I don't have anything Paragon showing up in services.

I believe all the new 10 series use windows Task scheduler - I am using DB10 server - but imagine the others are the same ( even the free one).

You don't need to mount with Paragon - they provide 2 other methods of copying individual files and folders back out of an image.

Why not just d/l and install it and see. It is the free version of course, so don't expect all the bells and whistles - but there's an incredible amount considering it's free.

The free version is for drive/partition imaging. Not for file backups.

Also, it's brand new - the first released build - so have fun.

    You're welcome Tews.

Not sure this is any better than the DB9 Pro you already have - but it's an always free product to everyone.

If you like playing with software - you might have a look at it anyway.

They Hard Disk Manager 10 will be the killer product. They are spending a long time putting it together - it won't be out for quite a while yet. HDM10 won't be free of course.
