Restore points can easily get damaged - e.g. by an AV scanner. Try another restore point. Maybe you have more luck.

If you had some malware on your system since a long time, that will also be in the restore points. When an AV program scans the partition, it would discover those and delete them. Problem is that now the restore point is corrupted as far as system restore is concerned - e.g. the hash total will be different. Thus it does not work.

But there are many other reasons why restore points can fail. That's why I always recommend to make frequent images to an external disk. Those nobody can clobber - except if you use Windows native imaging. Then you have a whole new set of problems.

Would that mean the recovery partition will be corrupt as well?
And an image now will be pointless?
I scan everyday and only had a Java bug which was found and deleted, also uninstallled Java
    at that time.
I will try a few more restore points and carry on with the tutorial and see what happens

Thanks so much for your time

It is very unlikely that the recovery partition is effected - from malware or thru a scan. The scans work only on C (unless you otherwise specify). The shadowstorage (that's where the restore points reside) is on C and take part in certain scans.

If you think that your C partition is clean, an image makes sense. Only if there is already malware in C, it would also be copied to the image. Malwarebytes is a good tool for scanning. Don't rely on MSE scans. Those are weak.
