    Create a restore point

I have about 200 GB set aside in the restore point areas. It say about 41% used,if I am reading it right.I like to create a restore point every week or when I install a number of programs. The problem is they seem to disappear.I have one from when I upgraded to win 7 but the other only stay around for week or two.I do have 3 h/d ,with about two part on each.I have only two partitions checked to restore, each is on a different h/d. This is a desk top and I am using windows (loader) to pick win 7 to load unless I want a program from xp pro. Why won't the restore points save longer than about 2 weeks.

Windows deletes restore points if the space allotted is full. Are you nearing that point? You could delete a few of the already made restore points and see if it works. I'm assuming you've already ran your virus/malware scans of course. You could also try a sfc/scannow in case its a corrupted system file causing your problem. Here's a tutorial on how to do that if you haven't before, just click on the link : SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Just checked some more and this is straight from the horses mouth so to speak : http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...f-8ab280ac031b
