    Windows backup fails with error 0x80070002

    Hi,

    Recently I installed a fresh copy of win7 x64. All ServicePacks and updates Applied.

    Scheduled Windows Backup kept failing with error 0x80070002 (The specified file was not found) and nothing helped (tried numerous things) until I found someone saying that putting a drive letter on the hidden boot partition on the system drive helped. And it did !!

    Backup run just fine now - but why ??
    Removing the driver letter makes the error occur again!

    It seems to be somewhat related to the BitLocker driver when booting the machine. It fails validating the boot partition saying its not able to read partition \\?\Volume{....}

    A fresh install doesn't create a "hidden boot partition"! Or are you referring to volume "system reserved"? That's not a hidden volume. It's a volume without a drive letter.

    Yes, that's it. Sorry, my mistake ;-)

    You should not need a drive letter on the system reserved partition. In fact the best practice is not to have one. I suggest you post a full disk management screenshot.
    Do you experience the same problem when you do a manual
    1) create a system image
    2) create a file/folder backup

    If you are including a system image in your scheduled backup setup I would recommend against this and make system images manually.
