Suspected corrupt system 32 files preventing laptop from booting
Hi All,
I have been stuck in the "startup repair infinite loop" as this forum seems to call it.
I have tried the tutorial written by Dzomlija, but that was ineffective. I have no problems when going through the tutorial but the end result did not materialize. The sizes of the files listed in the system
One of the problem files was identified as "tcpip.sys", apparently indicating a virus of some kind.
I have been unable to boot for a couple of weeks now and as I can't seem to find the license # for my windows 7, I'm not sure how I'd even go about reinstalling windows legitimately.
I am able to boot and access files using Ubuntu, which to me suggests that the problem doesn't lie with the hardware, possibly a good sign as the laptop is not within warranty.
I've tried using a windows installation disc to repair the files, but was not given the option of "repair your computer" when I booted from the Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium disc.
Any help would be appreciated, more information can be given if you tell me what's relevant!
Thanks
