    error code 0x8007012E

I received a new Toshiba external hard drive for Christmas. I copied my photos onto it. Then I wanted to do a backup of my desktop hard drive and got the message "the volume is too fragmented to complete this operation".

You need to defragment the drive that the message is referring to; as it sounds like fragments of files are scattered all over and that drive is too slow to be useful

This happened right after I had defragmented all drives.

I know this may sound kinda obvious but did you reboot after defragmenting the drives?

Well you probably need to scan for malware and spyware using the programs superantispyware and malware using malwarebytes

I ran both scans and was able to successfully back up.
