Looking for a .vbs for restoring from last restore point

    Hello,

I'm looking to create a Kiosk of sorts. The goal is that every night the system will run a silent command and restore itself from a previous system restore point. The only folks that will be using this machine will be saving their documents to the cloud (Skydrive) or they are so temp that their documents aren't wanted.

I have a restore point created, but I am unable to figure out a way to have task scheduler restore from a restore point. Does anyone know if this is possible either with a built-in .exe or does anyone know if a .vbs could be created to do this?

I know that there are other ways to do this and if anyone has a simple way to do it, I'd be interested. I know that sysprep is an option, but I'd rather not deal with that as I want the boot process to be as light as possible.

    Thanks,

    Welcome to the Seven Forums.

Are you planning on running an antivirus app on this Kioskish system?

If not, know that many infections can survive a system restore.

If so, then repeated restores might barf the antivirus app. Eventually, the core files might not update.

I'm not sure how best to do what you want to do, I just setup and oversaw an XP box that used Microsoft's SteadyState.

edit: scan thru the list of issues mentioned (solved?) by this product

    I'm not recommending that product...
...I'm just pointing out that list of things to think about.
