Installing stored System image on new HDD

Can someone please advise? I have a Samsung RV515 running Windows 7. i have a System Image on an external hard drive.
I am able to restore my laptop to this image no problem at all. I simply want to know, if i were to replace the internal hard drive with exactly the same capacity. how would I get the System Image onto the new hard drive? IE would the machine simply start up and give me the option to install the new image on the new drive?
    Thanks very much.

You have to use the innstallation disc. Just a word of warning. The Windows images are not very reliable and can play an act on you at any time. It is safer to use a proven imaging program like this one: Imaging with free Macrium
