Windows 7: Windows 7 Cannot create System Restore Point

Windows 7 Cannot create System Restore Point

I just got done making a clean install on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on a SSD drive. Then I noticed that whenever I was doing a System Update, it would try to create a restore point for many minutes and then give up and proceed with the update. Well, the bottom line is, I can't create a system restore point. I've basically tried everything that I could find on the subject: 1. Made sure that Task Scheduler and Volume Shadow Copy services were on Auto and turned on; 2. Turned System Restore off in the System Protection tab, rebooted, and then re-enabled it on the C; 3. Ran sfc /scannow which gave the system a clean bill of health; 4. Tried using Macrium to make an image, which did nothing. I don't know what else to do. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

BTW, the error message that I get after a failed attempt to create a Restore Point is: The creation of shadow copy has timed out. Try this operation again. (0x81000101)

Uninstall USB booster utilities.

You haven't filled in the rest of your system specs.
System Info - See Your System Specs

This happened to me whenever I had the ASRock XFast USB utility installed. Try uninstalling that.

Another example of these "booster" programs is ASUS' "USB 3.0 Boost"

But if you don't have those kinds of board, but have any kind of "USB turbo-boosters" installed, you still should remove it. They don't get along well with the Volume Shadow Copy service.

Thank you. Yes I do have an ASRock Mobo with XFast USB installed. Unchecking it from the Startup group was one of the first things I did. Unfortunately, it didn't help.

P.S. System Specs are now complete.

Other wise all I can think of is that you need to clean and format the disk and reinstall again as it seems to be having trouble in overwriting the old install..

Uninstall it.
Removing it from the startup list does nothing, as there is an additional driver it installs to your system. Uninstalling it removes this driver. I found this out after looking for answers out here: What's wrong with my VSS? - Microsoft Community

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data - it should give us the source of the error code.
