Backing up of history and passwords on IE

I have a quick question, I backed up all my files such as music, pictures, and documents and my favorites from IE, when you do a backup does it also back up all of your passwords and internet history as well, because I am thinking about re-installing my operating system next week and start fresh

You say "backed up".

With what program?

Did you simply copy a bunch of files from here to there or did you make an "image"?

Do your passwords exist only in your head and must be recalled from memory? Or?

Generally---if you simply copy each and every file on your hard drive to some other hard drive, then no, I doubt if your passwords would be saved in any usable form.

If you had a Word file on your PC called "My Passwords" that contained all passwords in ordinary English and you "backed up" that file, then yes, your passwords would be backed up.

If you habitually ask Windows to remember your passwords and you backed up via an image and later successfully restored that image, then those passwords should be intact and "remembered".

If I was going to reinstall from scratch, I would be sure to have an ordinary text file containing my passwords on a backed up storage device.

I would also back up whatever folder IE uses to store favorites, preferably by more than one method.

I'm not sure how to backup internet history, but I'd guess it could be done. It certainly would be included in an image.

More details needed.

If you do a clean install next week, you'll be starting over and have to re-enter passwords as required.

Windows 7 Backup is cryptic and not easily understood. I would not assume it backed up any of your passwords or internet history UNLESS you made an image.

Even if you did make an image, you'll still be starting over if you do a clean install.

I'd manually backup IE favorites--without using Windows Backup.

I'd make a text file of my passwords and maybe print it out so you don't have to rely on your memory or any kind of backup if push comes to shove.

I would not absolutely rely on Windows Backup for anything. Hope it works. Know what you will do if it doesn't.
