I need to be have a plan B, help me think of a way

So what if my windows becomes unusable again in the future? I want to be ahead of that.

I thought why not install on the same drive that has right now 200 GB free space an other windows copy?

Then install on that second windows copy key programs that could allow you to restore or fix or access the broken windows?

Is that even possible? Could I do something like that with a program like Macrium Reflect?

Could I restore a backup from windows A through using a windows B on the same drive?

Or should I install an other OS? So I maybe can still have file access to copy stuff over in case the windows goes broke?

If that's what you want to do, use Macrium Reflect for its intended purpose.

Make an image file of your current Windows partition.

Save that image file on some other physical drive.

If and when "windows becomes unusable", boot from your Macrium recovery disk and restore that saved image file.

Periodically, make a new image file so that the restored system will never be severely out of date.

Takes 5 to 30 minutes to make an image file, depending on how much space is occupied on the imaged partitions. Takes less than 30 minutes to restore when the time comes.

The problem with using the same drive to store a backup of any kind is, if that drive should fail, then you also lose the backup. The same danger exists on any drive also installed in a machine. The safest backups are ones kept on drives not installed on a machine and kept disconnected except when making or updating a backup.

How to make a Macrium recovery disk? I still need to re-install Macrium and haven't used it much but do plan on using it as you and many say it is a quite useful tool to have.

I also plan on dong this: How to create a Windows PE boot disc

I can't use Macrium if Windows doesn't work no? Or could I try and install the program on an other drive?

You make the recovery disk by using menus within Macrium. Make the Windows PE version as you intend.

Yes, you can use Macrium if Windows doesn't work. That's why you might use it. You boot from the recovery disc, NOT from your hard drive. After booting from the recovery disk, you navigate in the interface to find the image file you made and then choose where you want to restore it.

When you boot the Win PE recovery disk, you will land at the Macrium interface, just as if you were running Macrium from your hard drive.
