Dos and Dont's?
Hi,
What precautions should one take before creating a full back up image and/or after restoring an earlier fully backed image, using Macrcium Boot CD?
Thanks.

Thanks for replying, once the CD boots and displays the options, is it wise to eject it or should it remain in till the image is created/restored or it doesn't matter?
Same for creating a full back up?
Before making an image, I'd prefer to know that the involved partitions were malware and virus free.
After image restoration, I'd probably confirm that proper alignment was maintained. As far as I know, imaging programs will keep proper alignment if the partition was properly aligned at the time the image file was made.
I'd try to keep Macrium itself reasonably up to date. I periodically make a new recovery disk, maybe once a year--particularly if Macrium has had several new versions since my most recent recovery disk was made.
As a test, walk yourself several steps into the recovery process so you have an understanding of the menu choices you will face to better know what to do when you are in a jam. Cancel out before passing the point of no return.
I know some Macrium users do in fact restore every image they make as a test immediately after making the image file. I guess that's a personal decision. I don't do that because I don't want to take the risk of fouling up a perfectly good installation with a failed restore.
Thanks for replying with your expert comments.
