External HDD not being recognized during 7 Home Premium re-imaging

    whs- That article makes the assumption that I have an OS installed on the machine in question. The system image was created and stored on an XHD, the original drive then failed completely. Bought a new HDD, installed it, and then tried to recover the VHD to no avail, then tried to fresh install 7 Home Premium and got stonewalled on that front as well. Thanks for trying though.

    You can use Macrium to image that VHD on any running system. It must not be the system where it was made. With the Macrium recovery disc (WinPE), you then can restore the image on the system from where the VHD came.
