Does Window 7 backup.....

,backup my office 2007 files? I am concerned about my outlook contacts and calendar.

In XP and office 2000 I would just drag and drop the .pst files to a flash drive but not sure what is the best way with 7 and office 2007.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to seven forums

If your office files are on the same drive as the OS, Yes. You should ALSO either run a third party app like Acronis ( which I recommend for all your backups) or drag and drop them to a different drive.
If you let Windows 7 backup it keeps the backup on the same HD so if that drive dies you lose everything. Thats why you want to BU to a different drive.

Hope this helps

Windows 7 backup doesn't automatically back up to the same HD...you choose where the backup goes when you set it up.

I have a external HD....

that I back up to. Since my office files are on driver C with my system fills I assume they are backed up.

I am thinking of using an on line backup service like Norton. Anyone have a comment on that?

Thanks again.

Mozy is the online backup service that I hear the most about. It's at mozy.com.

I have never used it or any online backup service. You have to come to a conclusion about how you feel with all of your personal data sitting up there in the sky somewhere, the expense, and the longevity of the company you are dealing with. They all use high levels of encryption, but I remain uncomfortable with the general idea of my data being passed off like that.

The alternatives are doing your own backups locally--to DVD, to external drives, to internal drives, or to USB sticks. Use multiple methods and keep one copy off-site--like in a safe deposit box--to guard against theft, fire, disaster.

As a general proposition, I avoid Norton, but I have no clue about this particular product.
