Is there any way to get back data from overwritten file?

Hello!

I overwrote my file with smaller one which means that in theory the parts of old file contents must still be on disk. Is there such software that would allow me to restore such software?

Basically I need program that would allow me to read as many bytes from disk where file is located as I want. I mean when I open file with notepad for example then it would stop reading the disk where the file ends, but is there software that would input filepath and number of bytes to read so that I could force it to read more bytes than file's actual size is?

When was the file still correct? I mean how long ago.
And how long was the file in that state? I mean how long was the file NOT modified?

It happened when I made that post. I believe it's now gone forever, but I am still curious how to restore date in such cases.

This would be another (similar) method - advabtage is that you can select any restore points.

It's another method... but it uses the same "restore points". It is just the interface that's different

True, but rather than going only to the last restore point, you can attempt all restore points.

I dont keep restore points so earlier versions have nothing useful.
