System Image Restore successfully.

Hello all,

Just to inform you, and to share my positive experience!

To test if System Image Restore works, I have deleted all Windows 7 partitions, including the system partition of 100 MB, so I only got left, two disks, with both only unallocated space.

I rebooted to check if Windows 7 was removed, and yes, I could not restart my system.

I inserted the Repair Disc, choose to restore a system image, and it did find my latest system image.
Only thing a little bit peculiar, the time of the image was not correct, I create backups at 17.00 and the system image got a time of 08.00, I guess this is because I live in a different timezone.

The restore went smoothly, took not much time, and after restarting the computer, my system is working exactly like before!
Even the disk layout in Disk Manager is equal to what it was before.

I like Windows 7!

I've used the Image restore on a number of occasions and it has always worked flawlessly.

I've tried a couple of the free Imaging software programs and a trial of Acronis (all of which I wasn't 100% satisfied with) and for me, I'm more than happy with Windows 7's own and shall be sticking with it.

That's great news. I made one with Seven and another with True Image just to make sure I was covered with a fresh install image. Glad to know it works. I wonder how it might handle restoring to a different hard drive, for instance a total failure of the current drive and restore to a new one of differing specs or even a SSD?

Control Panel, System & Security, Backup & Restore. On the left side pane at the top are 2 options, Create a system image & Create a system repair disk. After you create the image it automatically prompts you to create the system repair disk (CDR needed).

And I haven't used the backup yet. I tried to run it but it wanted to backup 513GB in data on my Documents drive(array) and no matter how much compression I had on that backup it would not fit the 200GB free I have on my backup drive.

I'm pretty impressed with the image backup myself. I've used only HDD and successfully brought back my system to life while trying to get my main backup software to work. I've got image backed up on HDD and DVDs (also my main Casper back up), can never be too safe when it comes to your life's work on a computer. I don't think anyone will have a problem with doing an image backup unless you messed something up with the VSS (Volume Shadow Copy).
