SMART error Need guidance for backing up OS
Ok so today I got a SMART error which is basicily a warning stating that my hard drive is about to die. I have a spare hard drive (not apart of warranty with this computer) that I can use to back up all my files, all i require is a SATA cable which I will be purchasing the moment the stores open.
My question is this,
If i was to use the default backup and restore program on windows 7 professional will it back up everything including the operating system?
I wish to hand in the faulty hard drive for warranty however I do still need the data and a computer to use. So I wish to keep all my files including my videos, music games, work etc. in order for this though I require the operating system too
My hopes for the outcome is that when i remove the original Hard drive and change the bios to allow it to boot off the other everything should still be there and work fine. Can someone please reassure me or atleast help work a way around this if not possible. I need a response ASAP
