SMART error Need guidance for backing up OS

Ok so today I got a SMART error which is basicily a warning stating that my hard drive is about to die. I have a spare hard drive (not apart of warranty with this computer) that I can use to back up all my files, all i require is a SATA cable which I will be purchasing the moment the stores open.
    My question is this,

If i was to use the default backup and restore program on windows 7 professional will it back up everything including the operating system?

I wish to hand in the faulty hard drive for warranty however I do still need the data and a computer to use. So I wish to keep all my files including my videos, music games, work etc. in order for this though I require the operating system too

My hopes for the outcome is that when i remove the original Hard drive and change the bios to allow it to boot off the other everything should still be there and work fine. Can someone please reassure me or atleast help work a way around this if not possible. I need a response ASAP

Download the free Macrium Reflect, back up everything and put it on external. This will be an image of the entire OS. Then you can put the image on the new drive. I have been saved many times by Macrium. I, however, never needed a new hard drive, so my actual experience in that area is limited.

I just woke up so I'm about to get the Sata cable and partition the drive, when i get back i can print screen disc managment for you.

So If i use this program I can copy the os, plus everything on it will be copied?

Just wanted to say again I need everything on this second hard drive in order to use again otherwise all my data is gone as I don't have the disc for the OS ( you have no idea how stressful it is spending an entire day looking throughout your house for a disc is)

Use macrium reflect to image all partitions. You can restore them later. Boot from macrium recovery DVD to restore the partitions. It's quite easy.

just got home, and placed in the SATA cable into the new hard drive, howver upon turning it on, I got the warning once again for the error, now for both hard drives. I turned it off and tried just the new drive to see if the warning was just carrying over but that is not the case. And I know for a fact that this new drive does not have an error as I have used it in the past, however it is read on disc managment.

Clone the disk asap! If you clone "system reserved"... keep it 100MB.

You can also clone C only (so not system reserved). If so... mark the new C partition ACTIVE and run "startup repair". Startup Repair

After successful cloning.... detach the old drive from system and try to boot and fix the boot problems (if any). Now you can reattach the old drive (or even better..... throw it away.... it's faulty)

After formatting it I used that reflect tool. It was able to copy the system reserved but then unallocate the remainder of the drive. aftre about 3 hours of doing the clone an error popped up.
now when i try to load up disk managment the other drive does not appear

Formatting wasn't necessary. Macrium Reflect formats for you. Do you realy need "system reserved"? It just the partition with bootmgr and bootmenu.

Most likely macrium reflect fails because of the faulty source drive. I'm comming back with further instruction shortly.

Try this v5: Imaging disks with bad sectors (Bad Sectors)
It should also work for clone instead of imaging I assume.
