Did you specifically tell Macrium to make images of both Recovery partition and C partition in an earlier step?

Yes I did. I always do. But this is the first time I have ever had more than *one* file created by Macrium.

It's creating 4GB files for some reason.
Check your Advanced Settings / File Size settings.

It is set to automatic, just like your picture. I am saving to a folder on a 2TB external drive.

Per David's post 4, if it's FAT32, that would explain the 4 GB chunks.

In which case, you reformat the external as NTFS and re-image.

That was it! Why in the heck would a 2TB new Hitachi external hard drive be formatted in FAT32? UGH!

Thanks everyone.

I'm wondering if it really is a new drive. I've never bought a new drive that was preformatted.
