Volsnap Error 25: all restore points deleted.

I keep getting all my restore points deleted. I've tried to change the amount of space used to 13.5 gb and that didn't work. In fact, the machine saved 35 gb at that setting! Then I got volsnap error 25. The machine wasn't able to create a shadow copy in time.

So, not knowing how to reduce the I/O load, I tried storing the restore points on an external drive. But that didn't work either.

Do I create a new partition on my hard drive? Then store the restore points for C on that drive?

Not sure if this would be related:

Do you use Avast AV by any chance?

Nope. Is that a known cause?

Avast with one of its components installed causes System Restore slider to be set at 50%. Discard it since it doesn't apply to you.

Did you check restore space used with "vssadmin list shadowstorage" run from cmd or some other method?

How much free space you have on that partition?

I would also try (out of desperation):
    - Disable system restore
    - Restart
    - Enable system restore (set it at 1%)
    - Keep creating restore points and see if they act normally (oldest deleted first when needed)

    Until someone else comments

Yes, all of that done already. Thanks though for your suggestions.

Sorry for the late reply but I thought I'd post for someone having the same problem. I found a tutorial here (I think you recommended it) and the first thing I saw was to go to services, check properties and make sure it's on "Automatic." Mine was "Automatic (delayed)" so I changed it and waited. Now restore points don't exceed the 1% I stipulated and appear to be deleting old points to make way for the new, as it should. So I'm marking this solved. Thanks for your help.
