Reinstalling files from backup DVDs after performing a Recovery

I had to perform a Recovery procedure on my laptop which uses Windows 7 64 bit OS. I created backup on three DVDs, and now can't figure out how to reinstall these files. I have checked online for a solution to my dilemma, but the instructions are confusing, and the options availaable to me in the windows that open don't seem to match the instructions listed. I will appreciate any guidance that anyone can provide me to resolve this issue.

For people to help you need to provide more information including:
    - brand of laptop
    - more details on the type of backup. 3 DVDs suggest a factory restore backup. In this case you need to make sure your personal data has been backed up because a factory restore will get rid of all your personal data and return the laptop to an "as bought" condition.

I intentionally performed a complete recovery procedure on my HP laptop, with Windows Home Premium OS, to resolve several issues. I backed up all of my files on three DVDs before doing the recovery proced. Now I want to reinstaal my files form the three DVDs, but the information that i find online is confusing. An the options provide in the instructs don't seem to match the options in the windows that I open on my computer.

It appears that none of the people on this forum know how to reinstall files from backup DVDs on an HP Paviliondv6, or are unwilling to provide guidance.

What's confusing is your explanation of what you have done and what you want to do.

Does your first sentence quoted above mean that you have already successfully restored this laptop to its "as bought" state?

If yes, did you do that via a recovery partition put on your hard drive by HP? Or by using "recovery disks" which you personally made?

If no, what do you mean, exactly?

Does your second sentence quoted above mean that you have backed up your PERSONAL DATA FILES to 3 DVDs? Or does it mean you made recovery disks that are designed to restore to an "as bought" state ONLY, without restoring your personal data files. Or does it mean something else?

Does your third sentence quoted above mean you want to reinstall Windows? Reinstall some other applications? Or does it mean you don't want to actually reinstall anything and instead just want to copy whatever data files may be on those 3 DVDs?

I have three DVDs that I used to back up my files, as instructed, before I performed the Recovery procedure. What I want to find out is how to get my backed up files reinstalled. I have read instuction online, but the procedure explained does not list the options available me when I open the windows described in the instructions.

You are over analyzing my posted proble. I alread have the computer back to the factory condition, but want to put my backed up files back on the computer as I very clearly explained in my posts.

What happens when you try to drag these files with the mouse? Do you know where they need to go?

I'm assuming (perhaps incorrectly) that these are NOT applications and are just data files--pictures, Word documents, video files, Excel spreadsheets, whatever you've got.

The HP web site support area would be the authority on how to properly operate HP's built-in and possibly ridiculous recovery procedure.
