Invalid System Disk Startup Error following SSD to SSD Clone

Hi there,

Yesterday I used Macrium Reflect (free version) to clone my Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit install to a new larger SSD (went from Sandisk Ultra 256GB to Crucial MX100 512GB). The clone operation worked perfectly, and I then extended the cloned destination partition to the maximum available space using the Windows Disk Management tool which also worked okay. I then switched the machine off, swapped the SSDs over (completely removing the old one), and switched back on. I received a 'Invalid System Disk, press any key' error during the boot process, but I hit a key and the machine booted fine. I continue to receive this error now upon booting but it does not prevent the system from booting.

Can anyone suggest why this might be happening?

Many thanks!

Hello and welcome Jon mate that is how I do mine and I think maybe you should have let that partitioning process alone first to see if it worked .

What I use for partition work is preferably the Partition Wizard program Free download Magic Partition Manager Software, partition magic alternative, free partition magic, partition magic Windows 7 and server partition software - Partition Wizard Online I find it much more flexible for that and a heap of other stuff too the free version is fine
