Vista HD fried; BU files need to be transfered to new HD with Win 7
I humbly ask for help. Pardon my ignorance.
After my hard drive was completly fried (empty with no OS) I had the PC guy install a new HD for me and he put on Windows 7.
It never dawned on me to ask him to put on my old files from the BackUp cd's from the Vista OS and today I realized, I HAVE to get that info. My WILL is on these BU cd's (I think they were files only)
1. Can someone take these BU cd's and put them onto the windows 7 hard drive?
If no joy, what is the next or easiest step to retreive my info?
2. If I get/buy a Vista pc, is there a way I can put these on there so I can retreive them?
(If I used my sisters Vista, it would change all the setting's etc, correct and I really
couldn't gracefully get out of that without her knowing so I don't want to do that!)
With an old Vista pc, if I retreive the files that way, could someone be so kind as to instruct me
step by step or image me from putting in the disks and instructing me in laymans terms.
I just gotta get my will!
I appreciate anyone who can take the time to help me in this. Better, easier, whatever works!
Gratefully,
Aleta
MS says data saved on vista can only be restored on a vista pc; is that true?
