How Do I Migrate My OS Drive?

Most people reinstall their OS when buying new hard drives, but for me that would take days or weeks. I work with music production/film making/graphic design, and I have a lot of software with their licenses and hundreds of plug-ins each with thousands of presets and configurations.. my system is perfect and stable now, but the HD is 5 years old, and it will fail eventually.

If I buy a new hard drive, can I migrate the entire contents of my old disc on to the new one? And continue to work as usual on the new disc?

What is the best way to do this?

Yes. Image the drive using Macrium Reflect, then restore the image to the new drive.

Imaging or cloning can do that.

Cloning maybe a bit easier. Imaging maybe a bit more reliable.

Look at Macrium Reflect. There are tutorials on this site.

Other apps that do the same type of thing: Aomei Backupper, Acronis, EaseUS, Paragon, and probably others.
