And we're back to Square 1 if not Post #1.

I will say again from my last posting, there is no way Alexa to use your working computer to reinstall Windows to the broken Acer. And while the Repair disk you made from your HP *might* help to repair the Acer, you have said that it does not "see" your Windows on the (apparently bad) hard drive, so that ain't gonna work. Finally, the Acer Recovery disks you got SHOULD enable you to restore your Acer to "as released from the factory" condition, but they probably are not working because (again) your Acer's HDD is broken. I suggested using a new HDD for trying the Acer recovery disks because that is the only way to "save" your broken HDD for possible repair and/or recovery of files later.

But if you don't care about anything at all that is currently on your Acer, then that hard drive might be re-formattable, but you need a working PC to do that.

If I were there, I would take that bad hard drive and attach it to another computer and use my repair/recovery tools on it to see whether it could be fixed, using specialized tools e.g. Active@Partition Recovery or any number of other things I have.

I have an Acer Aspire Netbook myself, which is why I looked at your thread in the first place, and while I have never used the Recovery disks that I have for it, I am quite certain they contain the capability to restore your Windows installation, provided the hard disk is OK which apparently it is not.

BTW back to the Repair (not Acer Recovery) disk you tried, you said:

Select an operating system to repair (there is no info in this box), or if your operating system isn't listed, click load drivers and then install drivers for your hard disks.
Or 2=restore your computer using a system image that you created earlier.
I have the Acer recovery disks for my specific computer, which one do I choose and when do I start putting their disks in?
You have confused two different things entirely. Step 2 means simply "If you made an image I can try to use it" but you didn't do that.

The Acer recovery disks have nothing to do with that repair thing you tried. They just restore to factory Windows and all the junk software Acer provided originally. But they'll only work on a working HDD, which you don't have. Or maybe you could sacrifice the HP drive? And then throw the HP away? Grasping at straws here...

Do you have a friend with an Acer comp with home preimum, if so get them to create a system image and use that to reinstall your OS.

I have no idea what you have on these discs. Definitely no image if you did not put it on there. The best you can expect to be on these discs are the installation and repair files.

That will probably not work - especially the activation.

OK Maxseven, is a hard drive specific for the manufacturer? Or can I pull a hard drive out of another laptop a gateway and use that one. Sorry, I just don't know, I am really not trying to be difficult.

Since you seem to have a set of installation discs, why don't you

    a) save your files from the defunct system and
    b) reinstall the OS
