Windows not genuine after cloning or image restore to new HDD

The original OS HDD (130GB) was running out of space so I cloned it to a 1TB drive using Acronis obtained from the Western Digital site. I also created an image of the original drive using this program prior to cloning. The cloned drive initially appeared to work OK although I noticed the label for my data HDD had changed from "K" to "F". Within a day or so I started getting a window popping up that said my copy of windows was not genuine. I also noticed I was not getting updates. The computer properties window says it is genuine and gives a product ID number. I called Microsoft (ran slui 4) and did a successful reactivation but the not genuine windows still pops-up. The problem occurs with both the cloned version and if I restore the image on to the new drive. I've look at this forum and see others have had similar problems and its been related in some cases to driver issues. But I can't determine which apply to my case. I ran the MGADiag tool and it says my copy is genuine but list mismatches. Below is a txt file of that report. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Roy,

I may have spoke a little too soon. The computer will now download and install updates and software that was not performing properly before seems to be OK. However I am still getting the not genuine window popping up every now and then. I ran the MGAdiag again and the results (below) say it's genuine. So I don't understand why the not genuine window keeps appearing. So far I don't see functional effects of this but it's disconcerting that the window continues to appear. Any help is appreciated.

    Hi Dwight,
That remaining error indicates that there may be problems with the HD or file system.
    HealthStatus: 0x000000000001EFF0
    please run CHKDSK :C /R

    REBOOT

    Hi Roy,

Thanks for staying with me on this. I didn't get your latest reply until I had already run the chkdsk /r. For what it's worth that did not seem to resolve the problem in that a "windows not genuine" window popped up soon after and the "HealthStatus error was still there using the older MGADiag. I don't know were I got that version (1.57 MB, version 1.90019.0) but see I downloaded it on 160405 and think I must have picked it up following the link in the pop-up. I downloaded the MGADiag (1.985 MB, version 1.90027.0) from the link you provided and ran it. The report is below. Thanks for the help.

    Hi Dwight,
Where did you get Office from?, its an Enterprise version.
Im not sure but i dont think you can run Enterprise Office on W7 pro.
the Mgadiag looks OK apart from where its going to update, its NOT the normal windows server, Its shooting off to the Office servers, and i believe thats causing non-genuine.

Not gospel truth but found this, seems to back up my thoughts.

Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007: This edition is aimed at the typical enterprise user. Like Professional Plus, it's available only through>>> volume licensing<<< with no upgrade pricing

    Hi Roy,

So this is a really long time delayed response. The issue appeared to be resolved but I wanted to wait a week or so to be sure, then I went out of town for most of June and when I got back, well time slipped away. I wanted to thank you for your help. First, to clarify the enterprise version of Office: I am at a university and I get some software through volume licensing, so your last entry was right, however I do get Office updates. The windows genuine issue went away after I ran the updated MgaDiag from the link you suggested. I did nothing more than run the diagnosis and send you the report. But after I did that, I never received the windows not genuine error again. I found it hard to believe and kept waiting for the message to appear but it never did and every thing seems to be back to normal. I now get periodic updates and programs that were malfunctioning are running properly again. In additional to thanking you, I wanted to share this resolution with you in case something similar comes your way again. Best, Dwight
