    System image, clone, and restore points

    Then I downloaded and used the Fixit from Microsoft at this site while booted in my Clone. Rebooted into Clone again.

    Then tested my Restore Points in the Clone to a early date and it worked.
    Updated what was needed and I'm back in business on my Clone.

    For what ever reason when I use Macrium to clone the Restore Point are there you just can't use them. The above fixed that problem.

    When you created your clone did you do sector by sector or the quicker method by MACRIUM?

    I used Macrium Reflect for my Clones and/or backups.

    I Clone the complete ssd drive to another ssd drive.

    Then I use (F8) and select with ssd to boot.

    I was in my Clone ssd today just to update everything (security, Flash,ect.)
    I keep it updated just in case I really need it.

    Actually, what I mean is that MACRIUM has a sector by sector option which is slower. Did you use that option or the standard operation?

    I keep my restore points on my Original and Cloned drive at 5%.
    If yours are a 0% then 0% is what you get. No restore points.

    I do the same. When I mentioned my FAILED experiment I was using the WindowsImageBackup utility.

    I have a triple boot system & when I create the image I am obviously only booted into 1 OS. I have SYS PROTECTION ON for each OS individually when I am booted in that OS. SYS PROTECTION is OFF for the other 2. When I create this image do I need to enable all 3 so that RESTORE PTS are transferred to the image?

    A image and a clone are two different things as to the way they work as far as I know.
    At the present time I'm booted into my Clone as I type.

    In the cmd promt or Power shell you can see a lot about restore points.


    vssadmin list

    Just pick on of the subjects you desire to look at under.

    Again Layback, I am going to give MACRIUM a try. Did you use the standard operation or the sector by sector option? MACRIUM refers to this as FORENSIC sector copy as opposed to INTELLIGENT sector copy

    OK, sounds like the INTELLIGENT sector option. These options are under the ADVANCED options tab. That is what I was referring to.
