Cloning win7 partition to another disk

On the 32GB SSD, there are no "Boot" stated, which may be in the 1st partition.

There is no mentioned on the "Boot" in the 500GB HDD.

If by marking "Boot" on the 1st partition, which is xosl boot loader, then it may boot to that partition.

Just maybe follow the 1st partition of the 32GB SSD.

Do note i am no expert, but partly due to what i had been thru.

Thanks for your input. I had tried all that you have suggested, plus anything that i can think of, to no avail. The boot flag is just to tell the system that it is a bootable partition; my hdd is already bootable into xosl, just it need to get win 7 loaded from xosl.

Worth to note that, if you install windows on a partition that is not the first partition of your disk, windows will not create the "System Reserved" partition. Everything just go into the C: partition.

By that, I can install windows on HDD fresh, and if i can find out where all the boot related files for windows are created and make a copy of it from the hdd; then copy over the C: partition from ssd and put back all the boot related files i copied, it might be able to boot windows from xosl.

My XOSL boot loader failed to boot up win 7. There is no issue on XOSL as it can boot the SSD above by pointing it to the System reserved 100M partition. It just unable to boot the cloned Win7 image from SSD to the HDD partitions as outlined above although it is also pointing to the same System Reserved 100M partition on the HDD.

I believe there is something i am missing here. When the win7 is cloned to a partition other than the first partition, how does a boot loader boot load it? What i need to do?

I think i know what is the problem in your setup as mentioned.

If using XOSL, you need to DELETE the "System Reserved 100MB" partition, as highlighted in red.

It is stated in the XOSL documention.

Oh, btw, my Toshiba laptop will not have this problem.

In fact, the 1st partition is for recovery.

I deleted the recovery partition, and although the 1st partition is unallocated.

I have no problem when i deleted the 1st partition, and able to boot.
