Using SyncToy to Syncronize Three Drives

I have one primary drive (A) and two backup drives (B and C). I'm using SyncToy 2.1 to sync A and B. I would now like to sync A and C so when I finish all 3 drives are identical.

I have a folder pair set up for the A and B backup. If I set up a second folder pair for the A and C backup and run it, will that cause the backup history data for the A and B sync to be invalid for the next A and B run? If so, any suggestions for accomplishing what I want to do?

Thanks for your help

Jerry

Welcome to the forum. The best tool for this is the built-in tool robocopy which you can run by typing robocopy at CMD prompt you can also download a GUI you simply set it to mirror the folders it's very fast and was built for servers it won't effect history

Thank you Samuria. I think that will solve my problem.

I've installed the GUI, and have some questions I hope you could answer.

I will be backing up one folder named DATA. This folder already exists on all three drives, and has several sub-folders, and sub-folders within those, etc. Very nested.

I want the process to delete folders and files on the target that have been deleted from the source, and I want to copy empty folders from source to the target if they exist.

What choices would you recommend I set in the Copy Options for the above specs? or would /MIR option by itself do what I want?

Also, if I use RoboCopy with Win 10, is there anything I need to be aware of?

Regarding your first question: I seriously doubt it. I haven't used Synctoy in some time, but all the backup apps I've used would consider the A to B backup to be independent of the A to C backup. I'm assuming I understand your question correctly.

Re Robocopy: it's a good tool, but beware: it is very powerful. If you don't understand it correctly, it can have very undesirable consequences.

Synctoy 2.1
I use Synctoy 2.1 to backup my files to an external hard drive. The ext. drive was initially given letter E and I have had no problems because whenever I plug it in (always the same usb slot) it is always given the letter E. Someone at Staples told me it would be safer to "echo" to a flash drive...

Alternative to Synctoy
I use MS SyncToy which has worked fine but I want to sync one file only. Synctoy makes you jump through hoops to sync one file. Any suggestions? Using it between XP and Win7.
