    Create a System Image problem

    HP Pavillion Notebook
    Win 7 Ult
    using ext HD
    Zonealarm Extreme

tried this once and it worked

    next time got errors

DOES NOT EXIST AS AN INSTALLED SERVICE
    COULD NOT START INTERNAL ERROR

    (0x80070424)

there have been a lot of problems getting this thing up

So, the question is how to fix it?

troubleshooters don't seem to find it

    doubt it is the firewall...

Have a look and see if you have this registry entry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\wbengine

Are you using an app. that has a registry cleaner ?

Here's a copy of mine - try merging it:

    wbengine.reg

Also - any idea what is removing it?

Run both of them and see which removes the entry ( if any).

You can always merge the .reg agin to put it back in.

Maybe you can add it to the exclude list of those apps.

Is System Image working after merging the .reg file?

    i'll try that sometime

anyway thanks, just ran a successful image due to your efforts

note: if this is such an important point in the registry, should it not have been better written?

It is like other registry entries - it can be removed by registry cleaners.

Glad it is working for you.

Welcome to the Se7en Forums! Howzits

CCleaner isn't really a registry cleaner to start with there. That's mainly one with an uninstaller included as well as an IE history cleanup set by default and mainly intended for cleaning up empty temp folders not being used to recover drive space.

Over use of any registry can have negative impact to start with. One program being looked at now for a 3rd party system maintainence program is called Advanced SystemCare which also includes a registry cleaner in that as well. Advanced SystemCare Free | Free Windows XP/Vista/7 Registry Cleaner, Clean Privacy & Speed Up PC

I'm waiting to see how that one takes to chop the wrong entry out here.
