Make sure you get the full installer and not the 2 MB Internet shortcut thing (who knows how much longer that will work).

I downloaded the full installers from FileHorse earlier today.

Who knows how much longer anything on the "web" will work as it did earlier ?
Does FileHorse have the ability to choose the PE components for those that want/need them ?

I can still pick what i want to download using the "reflectdl.exe" Download Agent, and keep everything i might ever need ...

For me downloading the PE5 WADK Rescue Components takes apx. 5 minutes
Downloading the Windows 7 AIK takes apx 15 minutes.

From what i see and understand the Macrium WADK components will work for Win 7 and Win 8.x ...
Yea, I do have to download for 32 bit and 64 bit...

FileHorse doesn't download the PE components. You have to do that from within Macrium when you create the recovery disk

So, for a "pack-rat" like me i have to create the recovery media to be able to get the PE components ?
I don't want to create recovery media for all options that i might need someday, to help someone ...
I just want everything available, so i can create whatever is needed, when needed ...

You can chose which PE environment you want to create from within Macrium. 3.1, 4 or 5.

Is Macrium Free Edition still available? the link brings me to a "page do not found" sort of message.
    It is still available, here.

And they appear to have upgraded it to v5.3.7277 dated Feb 4, matching the final version of the non-free Standard release.

Are you saying if you upgrade to 5.3.7277 it will no longer be free? You would have to pay for version 5.3.7277 to continue using it after so many days?

    All,
If you choose the Windows 3.1 PE recover media that it is already included. I am using version number 5.3 build number 7220 Under help configure update checker you disable update checker.

5.3.7277 is still the last V5 update. The latest version is 6.0.476 which does not have a free version (yet?).

Whichever PE you chose you have to download it. That can be either using the MR download manager on installation or from within MR if you use the direct download provided by FileHorse.

You are partially correct. It doesn't download if it can access those via hard drive. I wondered myself why 3.1 wasn't downloaded. Since I have Windows 7 installed only on one partition, Macrium reflect must of seen the files to create a Windows 7 repair disk on the computer. So it took those files instead and created the rescue media.

    Window Resuce media 3.1
Created using the Windows AIK, this is a Windows 7 based PE environment which may work better on some legacy systems, or may be useful if drivers are not available for your Windows 8 hardware.

That is the official Macrium download page for the FREE version (it's actually hosted by CNet, but the link is from the official Macrium "free" page).

When I originally posted my info about the official release of v6 a few days ago in post #1790, the Macrium page said that the "free" version was still shown as 5.3.7109. So I thought that's what they were going to do, i.e. keep free at 7109 even though the final version of non-free Standard was 7727.

But now the "free" version on that page is shown as 7727, same as the last version of the non-free Standard version. So they obviously updated the page with this info from what it showed a few days back. Whether or not the program itself was really 7727 all along and they simply forgot to fix the page, or whether they decided to give out a free version of 7727, I don't know.

I only know that their "free" page right now shows 7727. If you download it that's presumably what you'll get... the free version of the product, and version 7727, same as the final non-free Standard version 7727 is. Of course you're not getting the non-free Standard version for free, you're just still getting the free version but it is version 7727 of the free product, same as the non-free product is also at 7727.

Whether they will release a free version of V6 I don't know. if I remember correctly it was some time after the release of the paid V5 that a free version was released.
