@Bare Foot Kid: Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately, starting Volume Shadow Copy did not sort out my Error 80042308 "Object Not Found" problem. Also, I did try starting and restarting with VCS set to Manual and Automatic. I guess I've got a long road ahead, but I'm happy that my VCS is switched on in expectation of resolving my problem. Cheers!

Hello There since i read all this tread i can't see fixed at the end!
Seems the system error restore x80042308 happen because the cokies left behind at some or one of your brower so there possible tracking get to this situation and also happen after you uninstalled and installed again microsoft visual c++2010 redistribrutable-10 for trying install net framework 4.5 that happen so newer version now for 4.8 along with 4.7 only, with exception in to 4.6 that happen can't be installed. Therefore problem caused crashed for all their tools in it system, but perhaps you've been stolen password and they try to change it.

    Try this fix:

1: first step download this file SR.INF and put in C:\windows\inf right click in to it go to install it find all the component to completed at C:\windows\system32 except other files than .dll and run this WMI.bat click yes then restart the computer wait windows update configure the system

    2. after done restarting (usually happen 3x revert) check your service for system volume set automatic after install this, block level back up engine services started, microsoft iScsi initiatior service started, volume shadow copy started and windows modules installer started too.

    3. go to your back up at other system beside systernal for example at D:\ open ctrl panel go to system and security for back up your computer then choose restore all user's files after that click choose different date in restore file (advanced ) see for older back up there and go restore it.

    4. wait for sometime it took how much space was took at your back up usually not higher than 10 gigabyte and notes if you had system image created at your Disk about 30 GB or USB for ISO file about 600 MB don't use it!!! sure because they stolen pass like OS in your system usually after that came notification like this "CANNOT READ DISK" so you have format all your systernal C:\

    5. if the restore all finish try go to chkdsk your computer not with system instead but try for application like this chkdsk.rar , follow the instruction only disk C:\ and only fix then restart again your computer!

    6. computer finish restart check your system restore again press windows logo at keyboard right click at computer go to properties see your system restore back!

    Hope this works!! !
nb:system restore at services cannot run but you can restore at properties and change anytime you want

    sicerelly yours,
