    Hello,

    Did you try re-running backup?

I'm not sure about the error code, but I think that is what happened to me when trying to use Windows Backup. I think that it means that it can't find some specified file and aborts. I tried 3 times with the same results, then bought TI 2010 to backup with.

Have you used a registry cleaner such as CCleaner?

Thank you all for the help I do appreciate it. I used CCleaner before I re-run Backup, also did not use the windows recommended, and ticked off Librarys, and ticked C; then proceeded and it backed up complete with system image. GREAT.

I have exactly the same error code (0x80070002). I am backing up to an external hard drive. The settings have been changed and simplified, e.g. to just include music and photographs, but the error continues. CCleaner has been run on the registry.
I have tried various trial download software, with no problem. Any further advice? This does seem to be a common problem and Microsoft's support web site offers a number of remedies, including a hot fix with caveats attached!
    Many thanks.
