    Hi chris,

Easeus works ok - but I found that Macrium is much faster - and pretty low resource usage- it also allows scheduling.

Another great freebie is Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Free Edition

It is about the same speed as Easeus - (not as fast as Macrium) , but it does offer Differential partition imaging , as well as scheduling - it also includes some partitioning functions and extra goodies on the boot disc.

you'd better leave the recovery partition alone

    Hi Darkphoenix,

Macrium free works great for me on 7 x64.

What is the problem , exactly?
Ahh.. Thanks.. I don't want to hijack the thread. With the Free Edition at the end of completing the backup it starts to add the last bit of information to the disk I forget if this is called index information or whatever.. or it's like the lead out info on a cd or dvd - and at this point it always crashes. I get an error message. I borrowed a copy from a friend who has the paid for version to do the backup then deleted it, but I would rather my Free edition works by itself because I may not have hat option next time.

I even downloaded a fresh copy. I use all default settings.

I have been using it for a while on XP and never had any problems at all.
